So gross wie Manhattan

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

This is a picture of the root system of type E8, projected from 8 dimensions down to 2. Picture by John Stembridge, based on a drawing by Peter McMullen. Mathematicians have mapped the inner workings of one of the most complicated structures ever studied: the object known as the exceptional Lie group E8. This achievement is significant both as an advance in basic knowledge and because of the many connections between E8 and other areas, including string theory and geometry. The magnitude of the calculation is staggering: the answer, if written out in tiny print, would cover an area the size of Manhattan. Mathematicians are known for their solitary work style, but the assault on E8 is part of a large project bringing together 18 mathematicians from the U.S. and Europe for an intensive four-year collaboration. I as ship

Monday, September 24th, 2007

At a certain time K. started to conceive the human self as something moving. By its movements the self receives how aspects of the world change. It seems to K. that his movements have an impact on his view of the world. So a tuning of his movements would result in experiencing the world more in tune (or out of tune) . A way to understand better this sort of tuning, I suggest the following: Tuning equals shipbuilding. Shipbuilding like for the Americas Cup is a challenge. With K we can start to conceive our selfs as ships. We can start to construct our selves as ships, ships that are eager to move in our world of change like in a wild ocean.

Algebra

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

The signs of Algebrists are clear, but they do not give a distinct notion, because we do not have an intuition of the things, which these signs represent. Leibniz said: God would sing in the language of algebra.

Atoms

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

Atom, the concept of the atom, has functioned as a compass (Cassirer). It led to discoveries of new  realms of  experience and  thinking.  This possibly because of  hybrid combinations. Hybrid combinations of experimental technologies and abstract ways of thinking. What kind of compass do we need to discover ways of dealing with discrepancies? Discrepancies which we can no longer deny, like our habits and the climate shift?

Artistic productions open our concepts for new trajectories of thinking and experiencing.

Warten-Waiting

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Are we in a state of conciousness, when we are waiting?

What are we doing in the state of waiting? Perhaps, we are listening? Listening to our heart-beat?
When we are listing to our heart-beat, we are counting.
We are in a process which is connected to mathematical truth. Therefore we develop, we experience our consciousness, when we are listening to our heart beat, when we are waiting.

Modern self

Concepts of the modern self are based on the assumption, that there is no such self possible without mathematical truth*

Sonntagszeitung Presenhuber Selbstinterview Dieter Roth

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

R: Dieter, was machst Du wieder hier in Zürich?

(… what are you doing in Zurich?)

D: Nichts, Eva hat gerufen.

(… Eva has called me)

R: Aber Du bist doch tot?

(… but you are dead?)

D: Das macht nichts, ich muss trotzdem kommen.

( it does not make any difference…)

R: Warum musst Du trotzdem kommen, Dieter?

D: Für die Gerechtigkeit.

R: Seit wann bist Du gerecht?

All blogs: more or less the same?

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Seen from a broader perspective blogging unifies. Now millions of persons use the same format. So the expressions of millions of persons are subjected by a digital format, so millions of expressions are homogenized.

From a closer perspective this argument does not hold. (more…)

Blogging – A chance for sensations?

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Does blogging change our way of feeling and thinking?

Scanning through this blog and posting in this blog strengthens  aspects of my personal being in the world. But strenghtening is not changing.

Changing is caused by events. Changing is enforced by catastrophes. Catastrophes are forms of subversion.

Is it possible to create situations of subversion in a blog?

Subatomic models offer something. They include messenger states that trigger changes. The search for subatomic particles is a way to come to a better understanding of changes. These occult changes will sensibilize blogging subjects to perceive changes of its own state.

But how is it possible to get hold of subatomic changes? Think of and look for Higgs particles.
