Sampurna Chattarji: Space Gulliver II with Audio Supplement

Space Gulliver is dreaming of an egg.
She believes she has cracked the conundrum of the egg.

Yellow matters, she hears a voice in the dream whisper
in her ear, there where the strings sing. What matters

is keeping the yellow intact. She listens harder.
Space Gulliver is dreaming of the void.

No, the voice whispers in the shell of her ear, the ovoid.
That is what you’re dreaming of, the shape

of enclosure and escape, you even wrote a poem about it
once, remember? Space Gulliver has forgotten.

Oblivion is the mirror that hides a cave. Listen, the voice
whispers in her pale pink ear, is that the sea?

T.S. Eliot: BURNT NORTON (No. 1 of ‘Four Quartets’)

February 19th, 2010

Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.

I guess, that my assumption is regarded as absurd. My assumption is: Concentration on text as text is a way of changing our attitude to the world.
