Sampurna Chattarji
is a poet, fiction-writer and translator. Born in east Africa, she grew up in Darjeeling, graduated from New Delhi and worked in advertising in Kolkata and Mumbai before quitting to write full-time. She is the author of several books for children, including The Greatest Stories Ever Told, Mulla Nasruddin, Three Brothers and the Flower of Gold. Her translation of Sukumar Ray’s poetry and prose Abol Tabol: The Nonsense World of Sukumar Ray was reissued in 2008 as a Puffin Classic under the title Wordygurdyboom! Her poetry collection Sight May Strike You Blind was published by the Sahitya Akademi in 2007 and reprinted in 2008. Her novel Rupture is forthcoming from HarperCollins in 2009.
