Sampurna Chattarji: Contagion

Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

To describe contagion
An urn and coloured balls may be used
Or an arm and bowls of fruit
So close together their colours dissipate
Their separate smells one delirium
A glass with lip marks travelling
From mouth to mouth
In a place that may be called:
No-room for doubt
To describe contagion
May be to answer yes
No matter what the question
Or who asked it
Or how far they were
When they spoke
Removing and adding themselves
Voluptuously
